Inspiring edition ‘Fiets en Wandelbeurs’

Despite the wintry conditions with frost and heavy snow, the Fiets en Wandelbeurs at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht still managed to attract 16,924 visitors.

Just as in the previous year, there was succesful co-operation with E-bike Xperience, which was taking place simultaneously in the Jaarbeurs. Visitors to our Fair were given free admission to Xperience, and vice versa. Given that the e-bike-event drew 2,835 people, the total amount of visitors for both events came to 19,759.

Test track for bikes

Many cycling enthusiasts made grateful use of the opportunity to try out bicycles and e- bikes on the extensive test track that wound its way between the two halls. Furthermore, there were also test tracks for children’s bikes and mountain bikes at the Fiets en Wandelbeurs and for e-mountainbikes and speed pedelecs at the E-bike Xperience.

Trick cyclist

On the Saturday morning it was particularly busy on the exhibition floor. The bicycle tricks of Krystian Herba, as part of the promotion for the new Green Velo route in Eastern Poland, attracted a great deal of attention. There was great interest as well in the latest trekking bikes on show from bicycle exhibitors, flag ship models that perform very well both on-road and off-road. Visitors swarmed around the info-market for hikers and trekkers, who put their questions to staff about routes, equipment and accommodation.

Lectures

In total, over the course of two days no less than 115 lectures and workshops were given. Many visitors were inspired by the prospect of new horizons. All of the seats were taken for the lectures of a number of speakers including Marica van der Meer (cycle trip to Australia), Jonathan Vandevoorde (walking in the USA), Bert Stok (coastal walking in Galicia and Portugal), Johan Blom (navigating by smartphone) and Paul and Marry Zandveld (cycling in Spain).
